This is a Contract position in Halifax, NS posted September 19, 2017.

Our Client is one of the world’s leaders in custom engineered formwork and scaffolding. They are looking for a driven field sales professional with a proven track record developing territories and managing a consistent book of business. If you have a great understanding in construction sales, submitting bids, civil engineering and have a roll up your sleeves “attitude” then we want to hear from you.  We will also accept applications from recent civil or structural engineering graduates that have very little sales experience.  Their Maritimes business is growing consistently as government spending in Halifax region infrastructure is growing, and they need a great Sales Representative on board who has a passion for construction and wants to carve out a long term career.

RESPONSIBILITIES/SERVICES
Cold calling to set meetings  with commercial contractors, engineers and project management teams in the private and public sectors is essential to the role.
Maintaining relationships with existing clients and managing the bid process for their projects is key to the role.  Bid process and sales cycle can be up to 2 years in this role due to the large project nature.
Networking at tradeshows, events and corporate functions.
Command control over proposals, tenders, bids and presentations to senior level decision makers.
Estimating and responding to tenders in an appropriate fashion.
Utilizing technical engineering knowledge for assisting clients through the sales process, current project management, scheduling and coordination work where necessary.
Adhere to sales goals and targets directed by management.
Manage data of pricing, sales and activity reports.
20-50% travel throughout the Maritimes when necessary, although majority of the work will be in Halifax.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Highly technical construction sales representative 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
2-5 years plus experience in B2B Sales in the construction sector, managing the bid process with large general contractors, engineers and project management is strongly preferred.
Ability to read blueprints, construction related drawings and estimating is highly preferred.
Structural or civil engineering degree qualified is a nice to have must not essential.
Hunter/farmer mentality–the ability to leverage on relationships from an onsite cold call and nurture these to build extensive networks.

THE DOLLARS
$50-60K base plus strong bonus and commissions.  Total compensation – $120K plus long term, $80-90K year 1.  Car allowance plus gas card, cellphone , laptop, great benefits.
